Crash is a gambling game where the user places a wager on a number, if the number is lower than the randomly generated one, the user wins the bet multiplied by the predicted number (multiplier). The game is often accompanied by a rocket or plane graphic that visualizes the growing multiplier.

Fairness
Most crash games use a provably fair algorithm to determine the outcome of the round. It’s great news because the provably fair algorithm is entirely transparent and verifiable. 2
This is how the provably fair system usually works:
- The game generates a server seed that is hashed and shared with the player.
- The player provides a client seed – it’s done automatically, but the player can manipulate it to ensure fairness.
- The outcome of the game is generated from a combination of the server seed and player seed
Since Crash is a multiplayer game, the provably fair algorithm works slightly differently. Instead of generating a new server seed for each game, these are shared with players in bulk. For example, BC Game Casino released 10 million crash hashes ahead of time 3, Coins.game released 1 million, etc. A new Salt is released each game round, which the user can combine with the server seed to verify the game round.
To verify the game outcome you don’t need to be a cryptography expert, you simply need to use a game verification calculator – here is a BC game verification script for BC Game Crash.
Crash Odds and Probabilities
Most Crash gambling games have an RTP of 97% – 99%, meaning that, on average, you lose $1 for every hundred $1 bets you make.
We need to look at the game result formula to understand the probabilities of crash gambling fully. Here is an example of BC game crash game result formula.
const gameResult = (seed, salt) => {
const nBits = 52; // number of most significant bits to use
// 1. HMAC_SHA256(message=seed, key=salt)
const hmac = CryptoJS.HmacSHA256(CryptoJS.enc.Hex.parse(seed), salt);
seed = hmac.toString(CryptoJS.enc.Hex);
// 2. r = 52 most significant bits
seed = seed.slice(0, nBits / 4);
const r = parseInt(seed, 16);
// 3. X = r / 2^52
let X = r / Math.pow(2, nBits); // uniformly distributed in [0; 1)
X = parseFloat(X.toPrecision(9));
// 4. X = 99 / (1-X)
X = 99 / (1 - X);
// 5. return max(trunc(X), 100)
const result = Math.floor(X);
return Math.max(1, result / 100);
};- Seed and Salt are used to generate HMAC_SHA256
- The combined Seed is sliced to extract the first 52 bits
- The extracted value is converted to a decimal integer
- r is divided by 2^52 to produce a value X in the range [0;1)
- Formula X = 99 / (1 – X); is used to arrive at a multiplier
- The multiplier is rounded down to the nearest whole number and then divided by 100
If you want to do a deep dive on how Crash algorithm works and how to calculate probabilities of winning, I highly recommend the video below by ‘Minding the Data’.
Remember that odds and probabilities are not the only limiting factor when developing a crash strategy. Most crash games have a Max Bet and Max Profit limit meaning that even with an unlimited budget your strategy might not be profitable, more on that in the next section!
Crash Strategies
Most of the strategies you can use playing Crash are the same as the Bitcoin roulette strategies. In the long term, none of them will bring profits, but they can act as a fun way to extend your gameplay.
Martingale strategy – double your bet after every loss. Technically, this strategy could work if not for the bet limits and the fact that, at some point, you might just run out of money.
Fibonacci strategy – instead of doubling the bet after loss you follow Fibonacci’s sacred sequence. The sequence always adds two last numbers in it, so the progression is slower than with the Martingale strategy.
Dálembert strategy – after every win, you increase the bet by one unit. After a loss, you decrease by one unit. As opposed to the previous two strategies, it’s a positive progression strategy, meaning you will bleed the balance slower.
Paroli strategy – You keep re-betting all the winnings up to a limit. Most players set the limit at three winning bets. If you win three times in a row, you return to the base bet and try to do it again.

Crash Game Predictors
Every single crash predictor is a scam aimed at swindling you out of your hard-earned money. Period.

Honestly, that should be the end of the discussion, but I want to give you some additional context. A common argument I hear when it comes to Crash is ‘If we have all the hashes ahead of time, can’t we just decrypt them?’. Here is a rebuttal from StackOverflow:

Responsible Gambling While Playing Crash
Crash gambling is extremely straightforward and delivers a lot of excitement. Most crash game variations showcase other users bets, provide extensive stats or even display betting strategies as if Crash gambling was an investment opportunity. 4.
Here are five tips on how to make sure you play crash responsibly:
- Set a budget you can afford to lose, and DO NOT spend more.
- Avoid falling for Gambler’s Fallacy – believing that after a series of losses, a win is due 5.
- There are no crash gambling strategies that bring profits in long-term – if there were, casinos would just change the rules of the game.
- Do not follow other player’s bets, you don’t know what their budget is or even if they’re real people
- Always play at reputable casinos with RG tools at your disposal
